From Big Spring to the space program
Huntsville was founded in 1805 around Big Spring by John Hunt and became the first incorporated town in what is now Alabama. Its 2020 Census population was 215,006, and the city reaches into Limestone, Marshall and Morgan counties as well as Madison.[2]
Redstone Arsenal, NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center and Cummings Research Park shape the economy. A city like that has commercial lots, industrial sites and rural edges, so building needs run from offices and shops to barns on its outskirts.[2]
