Lawrence County seat since 1820

Barns, shops and metal roofs near Moulton and the Bankhead forest

Moulton is a small county seat with forest to the southwest, and many properties around it are rural.  That shapes what people tend to build.

A courthouse town on the edge of the national forest

Moulton was incorporated on December 17, 1819, and has been the seat of Lawrence County since 1820.  The 2020 Census counted 3,398 residents, and the William B. Bankhead National Forest lies to the southwest.[2]

Land around a small county seat is often a mix of homesites, pasture and wooded acreage.  Many properties like that call for a pole barn, a workshop, a hay shed or a barndominium, and your site and the county permitting office help decide the details.[2]
