A tiny town on a flat summit
Union Grove is in western Marshall County, about 7 miles northeast of Arab and 5 miles southwest of Guntersville Dam. It sits at about 1,027 feet on the relatively flat summit of Brindley Mountain, and the nickname is The Grove.[2]
Flat ground at the top of a mountain gives rural owners room for a house, a shop and outbuildings. For a place like this, a pole barn, a garage or a barndominium are common ideas. What suits you depends on your acreage and your budget.[2]

Questions from a small mountain community
General information. Every project is different, so call us about yours.
Is a pole barn practical for a few acres on top of a mountain?
A pole barn can be a simple and affordable cover for tools, vehicles and animals. Wind exposure on a ridge is a good topic to discuss with our engineering professionals.[2]
How do I plan a building when severe weather has hit nearby?
Can I build a barndominium on rural land with no city services?
People often do, but water, power and septic need to be planned. Ask the county about requirements before you commit to a design.[2]
Which color metal roof would look right in the trees?
Our color visualizer lets you test roof and trim colors on screen. It is a good way to talk with family before choosing.[2]
